Sometimes it’s the little things that make a big difference. This month we are going to share 5 small tips, each of which will make it easier for you to effectively use your Groupsite to make things happen.
1. Sort by "Most Recent Reply" - When engaged in a very active discussion in our Discussion Forums, sometimes a Discussion Topic can become quite lengthy. Our default is to show the initial Topic post first, followed by the oldest to newest replies. If you prefer, you can view the newest replies first. Here's how:
At the bottom of the intial Topic post, you will see the following links:
Simply click on "Oldest First" and choose "Newest First" from the drop-down. That's it.
2. Feedback – While using your Groupsite, you may have a question or suggestion that you would like to share with the Groupsite Managers or the Groupsite.com support team. Here's how:
At the bottom left of every Groupsite page you will see the following in the footer:
Select the "Feedback" link and you will see the following:
Select if you want to send you feedback to The Managers of your Groupsite or to the Groupsite.com support Team.
Select the type of feedback, type your message and hit "send." This is a great way to stay involved in keeping your group on purpose, help make improvements and get questions answered.
3. Pasting from Word - Many of us use Microsoft Word for our word processing needs (even me, being a Mac user). If you have content that you have typed and formatted in MS Word that you want to paste into a Discussion in your Groupsite (without losing all of your nice underlines, spacing and font choices) here's how:
First, "copy" the content from your Word document. This will place it in your computer's "clipboard."
Then, go to the section of your Groupsite where you wish to make an entry (topic reply, calendar event description, "My Profile" custom elements, etc.).
You will see our WYSIWYG editor which defaults to the "Basic Editor" tab.
You want to click the "Advanced Editor" tab.
Then, click the 4th icon from the left on the bottom row ("paste from Word").
In the window that pops up, use CTRL + V (or select Edit, Paste, or right click, paste) to see your Word content and then click "Insert."
That's it. Now you can submit your post.
4. Creating Hyperlinks - When typing in the WYSIWYG editor in a Groupsite you can easily add a "hyperlink" to other pages on the internet. Here's how:
Go to the section of your Groupsite where you wish to make an entry (topic reply, calendar event description, custom my profile, etc.).
You will see our WYSIWYG editor which defaults to the "Basic Editor" tab.
Type what you want to say and when you want to create a "hyperlink," simply highlight the text (drag your mouse across the word or phrase) you want to become a link.
Then select the 6th icon from the left which looks like a small 3-link chain (this icon is greyed-out until you highlight the text you wish to link)
In the window that pops up, simply type the URL (web address) of the link you want to link to and hit "Save."
That's it. You can use this method to add as many links in a post as you like.
5. Changing Email Addresses - Perhaps you joined or created your first Groupsite using one email address and now you have switched jobs or simply wish to use a new email address. Here's how:
Log-in to your Groupsite and select the MY SETTINGS tab.
Select either the "Professional Contact" or "Personal Contact" link.
In the page that pops-up, you must first add your new email address by selecting the green plus sign "add another email link"
Type in your new email address into the pop-up window and hit "Add."
The system will then send you a verification email to make sure you are able to receive emails from our system.
Click on the verification link provided in the email to verify the email address.
After your email is verified, you should now be able to see your email address in the Professional Contact or Personal Contact page (as above) and you can now hit the red minus sign to delete your old email.
NOTE: This new email will now be your email address used for logging in to all Groupsites to which you belong.
That's it. 5 little things that can make a big difference.
