How To - Use the Calendar in a Subgroup

Any events posted to the calendar when in a subgroup, are only visible by other subgroup members.

When you look at the Groupsite calendar, you will see all group events as well as those subgroup events for the subgroups to which you belong.  If you do not belong to the subgroup, you will not see the events.
