As you may have noticed, on Friday, January 14, 2011, we fixed an outstanding bug with the automatic invitation reminders. "If you do not respond to an invitation, you will receive up to 10 invitation reminders." The frequency is defaulted to twice a week.
Since this automatic reminder wasn't working for so long, it caught some people by surprise:( What you are now seeing on the pending members page is the automatic reminder invitations (which were broken, now restored). Unfortunately, we don't show a distinction between originally invited and last sent (auto reminded).
The fix triggered a domino effect because of the way that the code was written on day 1 of our existence. Reminder invitation links were sent that had actually expired! GS Managers, you can simply resend the invitation... if our spam protection will allow you to do it today. It may have to wait (24 hours) from the time the reminder was originally sent. The issue with the bad links has since been resolved, but the genie was already out of the bottle.
We apologize for this huge inconvenience!! Here is what we are deploying today: We are getting rid of the automatic invite reminders because; 1. The link is broken, 2. They don't say that they are reminders in anyway, 3. The pending members page makes it appear like they are new, and 4. they are backed up so really old invitations are getting reminders.
When we fix all four of those issues we have the option of once again bringing back auto invite reminders. Don't worry, as a Groupsite manager you can still manually generate reminder invitations.
