To help members stay informed, as well as to support any member's Groupsite-related email activity, Groupsites have a message notifications feature in all Groupsites. Message notifications alert and inform members of received private messages, updates to subscribed forums and topics, and notification of any problems with emails.

Notification indicators are visible in the Groupsite's main navigation bar:

By rolling their mouse cursor over the Notifications menu option, members can view a short summary of new and previously viewed messages:

Clicking directly on a specific message in the summary will take members to a full page view of the message ..

As you may have noticed, on Friday, January 14, 2011, we fixed an outstanding bug with the automatic invitation reminders. "If you do not respond to an invitation, you will receive up to 10 invitation reminders."  The frequency is defaulted to twice a week.

Since this automatic reminder wasn't working for so long, it caught some people by surprise:(   What you are now seeing on the pending members page is the automatic reminder invitations (which were broken, now restored).  Unfortunately, we don't show a distinction between originally invited and last sent (auto reminded).

The fix triggered a domino effect because of ..

  • User Tip - Member Objectives

    Categories: User's Tip

Groupsites are designed to help groups make things happen. While each specific group has its own defined goals and objectives, sharing your personal objectives is also important in helping to make things happen. (In a Groupsite, you can do this with  your Member Objectives feature).

Member Objectives enable you to share what you are pursuing, personally or professionally, within your group. By sharing your objectives, you empower other members to learn how they may assist you.

You can add your own objective to your profile page by first clicking the MY SETTINGS tab. Then select the My Objectives sub-tab.

    This will ..

  • User Tip - Controlling What Goes Into Your Inbox

    Categories: User's Tip

While Groupsites are a new, powerful tool that change the way groups make things happen, email is still the glue that holds much activity on the Internet together. And, while Groupsites "play" very nicely with email, every user has their own definition of what that means.

Some of you want everything delivered to your inbox, while others would rather keep things out of your inbox. That's why Groupsites give you lots of ways to control exactly how much comes to you, and how much stays where it is and lets you go to it.

There are 4 things you can do ..

  • User Tip - How to Manage Your Profile Page

    Categories: How To, User's Tip

Most social networks are "individual-centric" and begin with you creating your "page" which is all about you. While Groupsites are "group-centric" and begin by creating a Groupsite (which is all about the group), you are an important part of any group where you're an active participant. And, it's important to let other group members know who you are by keeping your profile page up to date.

    Here's how:

A unique feature of a Groupsite is its dual profile. Each member has both a Professional and a Social profile.  You can elect to show either or both. In fact, how much ..

A picture is worth a 1,000 words. Facebook's amazing growth started with one simple premise: Why wait until the end of the school year to get a yearbook and see who that red-haired girl was who sat in the back of your Psychology 101 lecture hall? Wouldn't it be nice to know on day one who was in your class?

Nothing is more meaningful than true face-to-face communication.  However, when online, having a face (as opposed to just a email address or avatar) humanizes the experience to a certain extent.

Here's how to do this in a Groupsite:

    After logging ..
